High School ,The Non Musical

I started the New Year off with a bang by subbing in a high school (again). You gotta love teenagers, they are ever full of angst and drama, and it's even better when it's someone else's angst and drama. Today I heard all about the problems of the teacher I was subbing for; it seems she just adopted a special needs boy who has been having serious issues. These problems have made her absent from class most of the month of December, thereby depriving them of much needed education AND she canceled their Christmas party because the whole experience has just made her mean.

If you're a teacher and you think your students give a rat's patoot about your privacy, think again. There are no secrets around those blabbermouths.

They also filled me in on what happened to the last sub .... it seems there was a disagreement between two young ladies in class that degenerated into a nasty fistfight, at which point the sub fled, never to be seen again. This completely explains why the school called me last week at lunch wondering if I could swing by for the last two hours of the day, heh. And for the record, the general consensus amongst the boys was, "that chick fight was awesome, dude".

One other thing the school has started doing is to play song tracks from High School Musical during class changes. There are two problems with this: 1) It is played at top volume from every loudspeaker in the school, deafening old ladies like myself and getting on my nerves and 2) everybody thinks High School Musical - hmm, what was the phrase I heard used today? Oh yes, High School Musical "sucks balls man". It does indeed my friends, it does indeed.
